Why I expect today’s victory of Barack Obama?
As I am thinking about presidential election in US today, unfortunately, I must predict that Barack Obama runs for victory. To be more concrete, I would vote for McCain because of his political ideas, right-oriented economic belief, ethical values and responsible defense and security issues. But on the other hand, there is my personal view, shaped by personal (= not only rational) observations, which tells me that Obama is about to run for White House successfully:
The first enormous mistake of Republicans was to vote for an old man in primary election. It wouldn’t matter if Mrs. Clinton or Mr. Obama had won primary election among Democrats, the candidate would have been charismatic in his/her nature. John McCain could turn into anyone, but media-star or relaxed leader.
The second defect was to nominate Mrs. Palin as a candidate for US vice-president. She became suitable target for negative campaign, criticism and even for joke of humor of two Canadian humorists.
The third flaw was to choose just one main topic of campaign – tax cuts. However, there have been other issues as well, but according to my observation, taxes seemed to be proclaimed at most. At the same time, I feel that as a result of world financial crisis, the world’s opinion becomes more and more left-oriented. Tax cuts is the sound theme, but insufficient for this time.
The fourth bug was to base Obama’s negative campaign on the slogan of „empty words.“ Yes, Democrat’s declarations are visions and not realizable plans, but the campaign demands concrete arguments, not just a lot of cliché.
The fifth glitch was to ignore modern media trends and underestimating the power of social networking, blogs, on-line video and „quinta essentia“ as a whole. Obama asked people to get into their iPhones, mobiles, Facebook accounts. He used Twitter services at the same time. McCain, like a true conservative, talked about his aims (conservatively) notably on TV screens and posters.
Finally, taking no political ideas and beliefs into consideration, imagine that you have just to choices: To vote for black human with charming baritone, whose dancing and body moves look attractive, or to vote for white old man, veteran of Vietnam that has similar accent than George W. Bush and his body moves look stiff and boring. Which vote would be more tempting?
In conclusion, this is only my pesimistic expectation. If miracles happen, maybe John McCain will become the next US President.
